Ingredients

Apple Pear Crisp Ingredients

  • 5 Anjou pears or your favorite, no need to peel
  • 5 Gala apples or your favorite, peeled
  • ¼ C all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 C cane sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. orange zest
  • 1 tsp. lemon zest
  • 2 T orange juice
  • 2 T lemon juice

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 6 T light brown sugar
  • 6 T cane sugar
  • ½ C rolled oats
  • ¾ tsp. pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

Apple Crisp Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Prepare a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish by spreading the bottom and sides with some butter. You could also use a cooking spray.
  • Core and cut the fruit into large chunks. Place the fruit into a large mixing bowl.
  • Add in the flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange and lemon zest, orange and lemon juice. Mix it all together until combined.
  • Pour into the prepared casserole dish.
  • Finish with your topping (recipe below).
  • Place in the preheated oven on the middle rack. Bake for 50-60 minutes until the top is browned and the crisp is bubbling.

Topping Instructions

  • Mix these all together in medium mixing bowl with your fingers until all is well combined. You could also put all the ingredient in a stand mixer fitted with a paddle. Mix for 1 to 2 minutes until combined.
  • Note: you can top with aluminum foil is the crisp begins to brown quickly. You can also serve with whipped topping or a scoop of ice cream!
