Method
- Note: I served my salad with my homemade ranch dressing. Recipe is below.
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the bacon on the baking sheet and cook for 20-23 minutes until bacon is browned. Drain on a paper towel lined plate. Once cool, cut into bite sized pieces.
- Assemble your salad in a large bowl (I used a trifle bowl).
- Start with a layer of lettuce. Next, top with a layer of radishes. Add another layer of lettuce. Now, add a layer of peas. Top the peas with tomatoes. Top the tomatoes with cucumbers. Now, add a layer of bacon. Finally, top with a layer of feta cheese crumbles. This is such a gorgeous salad and it’s full of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Enjoy!
- In a large mixing bowl, add your mayo and sour cream.
- Finely chop your parsley, cilantro, basil, chives and then add to the bowl.
- Next, add your minced garlic, dill, salt, and black pepper.
- Whisk this all together.
- Add a little buttermilk at a time until you’ve reached your desired consistency. This is so good! Enjoy!
- Note: This will last in your refrigerator up to a week. If it thickens a bit in your refrigerator, thin it out with a little more buttermilk.

Why this layer order works
This salad is assembled in the order shown in the recipe (lettuce, radishes, lettuce, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, bacon, feta). That sequence balances color, texture, and moisture: leafy greens form a light base and provide visual contrast; thin, crisp vegetables like radishes add an early crunchy element; heartier, moister items such as peas and tomatoes sit nearer the middle where they’re less likely to collapse delicate leaves; and bacon with feta finish the top layers, contributing salty flavor and a contrasting texture.
Presentation and bowl choice
The recipe author assembled the salad in a trifle bowl. A clear trifle or glass bowl highlights the colorful layers and makes the salad a visual centerpiece for potlucks or gatherings. The post also provides a ranch-style dressing recipe to accompany the salad.
