Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 1 package 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 8 ounces ground breakfast sausage no casings
- 2 C shredded sharp cheddar cheese or your favorite
- 6 organic large eggs
- ½ tsp. kosher salt
- ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven or air fryer to 400 degrees.
- Preheat a 12-inch skillet over medium high heat. There is no need to add oil or butter to your skillet Add in your sausage and cook until browned and cooked through. This will take about 4-6 minutes.
- While the sausage is browning, whisk the eggs with ¼ cup of water (you could also use half and half, milk or heavy cream), salt, and black pepper.
- Once the sausage is done, turn down the heat to medium low and add in the eggs. Using a heat safe spatula, stir the eggs and the sausage until the eggs are cooked through. This will take 3-4 minutes.
- Take off the heat and pour the egg mixture into a large bowl and cool.
- Using a large bread knife, slice your Hawaiian rolls in half (keeping them together). Take the top off.
- Place half of the cheese on the bottom layer of rolls. Next, add the sausage and egg mixture. Finish with the rest of the cheese. Place the Hawaiian rolls top on. You are now ready to heat in your oven or save for another day.
- If you plan on eating this right away, place on a foil or parchment lined baking sheet and place in the oven or air fryer. These will take about 5 minutes in your air fryer to heat through and for the cheese to melt (if using your oven, just watch them and take out once the cheese has melted). They are now ready to serve and enjoy!
- To Serve Later
- Once you’ve assembled the sliders, you can wrap them in foil and refrigerate. They will stay fresh in your refrigerator for 3-4 days. Just follow the above directions to heat and serve.
- If you want to freeze them, just wrap in parchment and then foil. Store in a large resealable freezer bag. These will stay fresh in your freezer for up to 3 months. Just take them out of the freezer the day before you want to serve them. Follow the directions above to heat through.
- You can also cook this right from the freezer. Leave them in the foil and place on a baking sheet. These will take approximately 18-20 minutes at 400 degrees in the oven or half the time in an air fryer, 9-10 minutes.
