Ingredients

  • 3 C bread flour
  • ½ C cane sugar
  • ¼ C cocoa powder
  • 1 C whole milk warm (approx. 95 degrees)
  • 1 large egg at room temperature (lightly beaten)
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla
  • 2 ¼ tsp. bread machine yeast
  • ½ tsp. kosher salt

Instructions

  • Note: follow your bread machine’s recommendations for placing ingredients in the baking bowl.
  • For my machine, the liquids go in first.
  • To the baking bowl, add the warm milk, beaten egg, vanilla.
  • Top with flour, cocoa, sugar, salt. Make a small well in the dry ingredients and add the yeast.
  • Place the baking bowl in the machine. Set your machine for a 1 ½ pound loaf, white bread (soft bread) with light crust setting.
