What is pumpkin pie spice?

“Pumpkin pie spice” is a warm, aromatic blend commonly used in fall baking. Typical mixes include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and either cloves or allspice. In this milkshake it provides the familiar pumpkin‑pie flavors—warm, sweet, and a little spicy—using the single spice measurement already listed in the ingredient list.

Why chill the bowl (and a quick tip for fluffy whipped cream)

The whipped topping instructions ask you to chill your glass or metal bowl because cold equipment helps heavy cream hold air more easily. Colder cream whips faster and yields a lighter, more stable whipped cream, which is why the recipe recommends chilling before beating with a stand or hand mixer.

About the whipped topping and the spice sprinkle

The recipe’s finishing suggestions—whipped topping and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice—add lightness, creaminess, and an aromatic touch that reinforce the pumpkin‑pie flavor. The whipped topping provides a creamy contrast to the blended shake, and the small spice sprinkle adds visual appeal and a final burst of the warm spice notes listed with the ingredients.
